An Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, executive producer of TED Media, and pioneer of instant messaging are among the newly named judges of Nokia’s Growth Economy Venture Challenge. The Challenge, announced in January, will invest $1 million in the developer with the biggest and best idea to transform the way consumers use Nokia devices. Already, ideas have been submitted by developers in 30 countries, including India, the United States, and Kenya.

The final winner will be selected by a panel of seven judges, who include: June Cohen, executive producer of TED Media; Jesse Dylan, director of ‘Yes We Can Song’ and other videos; and Joseph ‘Yossi’ Vardi, former chairman of the company that created the ICQ instant-messaging program.

The deadline for all submissions is 31 July, and the winner will be announced at the Nokia Developer Summit in September.
