Nokia Now Signing Symbian Apps for Free

pkrass | 16 August, 2010 09:00

Developers can now have their Qt Symbian (with Nokia Smart Installer for Symbian), Symbian C++, Flash Lite applications, and Symbian Themes signed for free by Nokia. To get the free signing, developers must only provide some information and follow a few new steps during their application submission to publish to Ovi.

Under the new arrangement, publishers no longer need to pay to get a publisher ID or have their apps signed. Nokia, by essentially removing the ‘public beta’ for Symbian Signing, is demonstrating to developers its commitment to review the initial investment costs associated with obtaining a publisher ID and getting their apps signed. “This greatly simplifies the publishing process by making it a one-stop process for publishers,” says Purnima Kochikar, VP of Forum Nokia.

To reach million of consumers worlwide, publish your apps on Ovi Store today.

When Java ME will have free signing? All other services accept Java applets without signature, seems OVI store is the last...

when j2me will be easy to publish to ovi, maybe sun(oracle) would like to participate to promote j2me, j2me is real standard for mobile phones, supported on huge number of devices, but nobody wants to promote it
