Qt SDK 1.1 update - release candidate now available

jasonblack | 06 April, 2011 11:16

Today Nokia has published the release candidate for Qt SDK 1.1. This version of the SDK now includes Qt 4.7.3 and Qt Mobility 1.1.2., and is entering its final stage of testing. The testing is taking place over the next two weeks, after which the final SDK will be published. With the final release, your applications will be supported by Nokia Smart Installer for Symbian and Ovi Store will be ready to accept your apps.

There is also an important change in the proposed implementation of Qt support on Symbian devices you should be aware of. Qt 4.7 is NO LONGER supported on S60 3rd Edition devices. For these devices your applications can use Qt 4.6.3 and Qt Mobility 1.1.2. This change has been implemented following your feedback from the beta testing. Given that touch devices are driving the demand for applications in Ovi Store, it was decided that the most benefit will come from focusing effort on ensuring Qt Quick is the best it can be on touch devices.

Another point to keep in mind, with the final release of the Qt SDK 1.1, the 1.0 version will be withdrawn. The Qt SDK 1.1 supports Qt 4.6 and Qt 4.7 configurations, so it will be the only SDK you need to build apps for all supported devices.

Ready your apps for release by downloading the release candidate.

For more information on the differences from the Beta SDK to the release candidate, check out the Qt SDKs and Tools discussion board where information will be posted as it becomes available.

Re: Qt SDK 1.1 update - no to s60 3rd

Hello,

it is such a bad idea to not include s60 3rd, I have been developing an app for s60 3rd and now it is not available. QT has a goal to be cross platform and therefore it should also cater non-touch phones. QWERTY phones has also a chunk of the market share and if nokia would want to be better, it should be concerned with user experience and care about users with s60 3rd phones. I (and other developer and users as well) would really appreciate it if qt 4.7.1 would be available for s60 3rd too.

please support maemo diablo (n8x0) as well

S60 3rd in Qt SDK 1.1?

"The Qt SDK 1.1 supports Qt 4.6 and Qt 4.7 configurations, so it will be the only SDK you need to build apps for all supported devices."

Does Qt SDK 1.1 support S60 3rd edition? As far as I see there are only S^1 and S^3... So using Qt SDK 1.1 I'm not able to develop apps for S60 3rd edition at all, even with Qt 4.6.3?
