Introducing the NEW Forum Nokia Site

pkrass | 08 June, 2010 18:44

Check out Forum.Nokia.com, and you will see some big changes to Nokia’s developer portal. Changes not only in the site’s look and feel, but also in its focus, message, resources, and the ways that Forum Nokia helps developers connect and collaborate.

For one, the site’s information architecture has been radically simplified. Navigation is faster and easier to follow than ever before. Related information and tasks are grouped to help you find precisely what you need, fast. And developer resources have been reorganized into three main categories:

- Design: UI design and application process and concepts
- Develop: With a special focus on simplifying choices with Qt, the web, and Java
- Distribute: revenue and publishing opportunities via Ovi Store

The revamped site also lets you dive deeper. Quick access to expert information is available in online libraries and device specifications. And the Forum Nokia blogs, wikis, discussion boards, and other community features continue their useful operations.

A new feature, coming soon, is called Forum Nokia Projects. It is a web-based project management environment for the Nokia developer community. Developers will use Forum Nokia Projects to collaborate with others on mobile development projects. The public beta of Forum Nokia Projects is scheduled to launch in mid-June.

Finally, Forum Nokia’s online Remote Device Access (RDA) service, previously offered only to members of Forum Nokia’s partner programs, is now free and available to the entire developer community. You can now use this free service to test live Nokia devices over the Internet.
