Nokia Remote Device Testing Expands with Handset Cloud

Forum Nokia’s Remote Device Access (RDA) service, which lets developers anywhere in the world test their apps on live devices via the web, has been expanded to include the Perfecto Mobile Handsets Cloud. This new service provides a secure environment for testing. It also offers robust automation capabilities for regression testing, app validation, and monitoring. The service’s main features include installing apps on devices, transferring files, analyzing log files, executing power cycles, digital screenshots and real-time video collaboration. The service also offers integrated Symbian Signed and Java Verified certifications test flows to help developers prepare their applications for Ovi submission.

MeeGo 1.1 Announced

MeeGo, the Linux-based platform born from a combination of Nokia and Intel projects, has just been released in version 1.1. The new version is not for consumers, but for developers and device vendors wishing to create software for MeeGo-based devices. Upgraded components include the core OS, netbook apps, in-vehicle infotainment, and handset user experience (UX). Also, an accompanying SDK 1.1 Beta will be announced prior to the MeeGo Summit 2010, being held 15-17 November in Dublin, Ireland. The platform’s development team says the next release, MeeGo 1.2, will be released in April 2011.
