Polarbit has a game you’ll love, whether you prefer the role of a lone commando fighting against hordes of enemy soldiers, a pilot engaging in thrilling dogfights thousands of feet in the air or a speedboat captain racing through beautiful scenery at a breakneck pace. A dedication to quality gameplay coupled with years of industry experience has led to the release of five titles on the Ovi Store, with
over one million total downloads to date.
Although the Swedish company was founded in 2005, its gaming roots can be traced back to the burgeoning console, PC gaming and emulator scenes of the late 1990s. From the start, the company focused on creating high-quality 3D gaming titles for high-end mobile devices. Its developers have been involved in mobile gaming since its infancy, developing some of the industry’s first 3D titles.
Today, top titles for the company include Armageddon Squadron, an arcade flight sim, and
Raging Thunder, a fast paced coin-op style racing game.
In addition to the company’s 3D gaming titles, Polarbit is focused on innovating in emerging areas for mobile gaming, such as game publishing and cross-platform multiplayer capabilities.
Polarbit has developed a Fuse middleware platform to interface with the Nokia Game API plug-in and speed the time to market for any developer publishing games on the Symbian operating system.
The company’s titles also allow multiple players to go head-to-head, regardless of which hardware or software platforms are being used.
"Our ambition is to reach as many gamers as possible with our titles, and there are more devices from Nokia out there than from any other manufacturer. In two weeks time, we saw over one million total downloads on Ovi Store," said Polarbit founder Mitri Bautista Wiberg.
Writing about Armageddon Squadron, the Ovi Gaming blog said "
This World War Two-based shooter has the looks to go alongside the cool name, with some of the best 3D graphics on S60 in a long time."
The same blog
also said that "
[Raging Thunder] is highly recommended for anyone who loves car racing and who is willing to take on a serious challenge to the reflexes."
Both games are available on Nokia Symbian (5.0) devices such as the N97, N97 mini, 5530 XPressMusic, 5800 XPressMusic, X6 and 5230.
