Breakdesign, a multi-award winning company, is no novice when it comes to finding success through Nokia’s Ovi Store.  Combining its own social gaming platform Barking Seed with its off-the-wall, simple and addictive game-play, Breakdesign's mobile games have proved to be wildly popular with over 2.1 million downloads in more than 190 countries through Ovi Store.

Located in Singapore, Breakdesign has been developing apps for Nokia devices for over six years.  Specializing mainly in Adobe Flash Lite technology, the company has created  a variety of games, such as That Roach Game South Africa, Ninjani – Emperors Revenge, Dawn of the Fly Chapter 1 and Dawn of the Fly Chapter 2, Horseface, Monsterilla, and 10PM.

Breakdesign's That Roach Game South Africa won second place in Nokia's Calling All Innovators Africa 2009 contest and was awarded $10K USD for its innovative gameplay use of Nokia's touchscreen devices.  Breakdesign was also one of the first companies to win the Open Screen Project Fund, an initiative created to fuel innovation, targeted at commissioning developers and funded by Adobe and Nokia.

Using the funding award from the Open Screen Project Fund, Breakdesign aimed to create a new mobile gaming experience.  With the March 2010 debut of its social gaming platform Barking Seed, players now enjoy their own gaming community, which adds a competitive edge to the games, enjoyed by users in more than 20 countries . The platform also features achievements and competitions for various prizes such as Nokia phones and device accessories.

Barking Seed utilizes Nokia's emerging mobile device technologies such as networking and GPS capabilities that allow the platform to track and update global and local leader boards. When playing any of Breakdesign's Barking Seed enabled games, players can upload their scores, compete with other players to be the top player in their country or globally, vie for prizes, and use the Shoutbox to add a comment that can be viewed by the entire Barking Seed community.

The gaming platform fuses the mobile and internet experiences together.  Visiting the main Barking Seed homepage, players are able to see user profiles and stats, get the latest news on Barking Seed and Breakdesign news, and stay up-to-date on upcoming competitions and prizes.  The website also updates recent scores and comments in real-time.  Additionally, detailed leader boards can be viewed in categories like top countries, top players globally and top players in their local country.

The game's concept might be simple – squash as many roaches as you can – but gamers are addicted to not only the game play but also the real photo graphics and the random facts about roaches and South African cities.

A That Roach Coach Game user described the experience as "An awesome game, great graphics and super cool animations!"

This game is available on Nokia Symbian (^3 and 5.0) devices and is now enabled for Flash Lite 2.1 Nokia keypad devices such as the N95, N73, and devices with 240x320 screen sizes, so more players can enjoy the roach-squashing fun.

Roaches give you the shivers?  Instead of hunting roaches, gamers who download and play Breakdesign's other popular game Ninjani – Emperors Revenge will hunt fearsome foes in multiple levels and compete to become the Ninjani Grand Master.  The plotline is ninja assassins killed the emperor and kidnapped the princess.  Now it is the player’s chance to use master ninja skills to save the princess and become the most deadly ninja.  The game boasts five stages, four bosses and unlockable wallpapers for obtaining certain achievements.

Similar to That Roach Game, Ninjani takes full advantage of Nokia's touchscreen devices and is Barking Seed enabled. This game is available on Nokia's Symbian (^3, 5.0 and 3.x) devices.

One player commented, "This really shows the quality that can be achieved on a mobile platform; rich graphics, speech, high quality animations and great gameplay."

Another Breakdesign game, Dawn of the Fly Chapter 1, is based on characters and hilarious animations from the world of Dawn of the Fly.  The goal of this game is to eat as many green-eyed flies as possible and avoid being poisoned by red-eyed flies.

With Dawn of Fly – Chapter 1's success, Breakdesign recently released Dawn of Fly – Chapter 2.  Both games are Barking Seed enabled.

One player said it best on Ovi Store: "I download the game without having a second thought! I love the animated creature in the game!" This app is available on Nokia Symbian 3.x devices and Nokia Series 40 devices.

That Roach Game South Africa, Ninjani – Emperors Revenge, and Dawn of the Fly Chapter 1 are available for free from Ovi Store. For a full overview of all Breakdesign applications available, visit Ovi Store.
