Based in Russia, Tarasov Mobile Software creates fun and easygoing apps that consumers love, but the company is entirely serious when it comes to the business of selling apps. The company's determination to succeed has churned out some impressive results, with its entertainment and utilities apps such as Ting! and Magic Brush downloaded more than 2.1 million times in more than 190 countries.
Tarasov Mobile Software's business model is to provide more consumer-choice when it comes to downloading apps by releasing both lite and full versions of every app they publish.
Lite versions of apps provide the opportunity for consumers to test out the main features of the full app, sans the cost and without time restrictions typically found with demo or trial apps. Lite versions generally inspire active users to purchase the full versions and help to boost overall revenue generated from those versions. However, not all consumers will need or prefer all the features on full versions so lite versions also act as standalones while building brand recognition with a wider consumer base.
"We credit our company’s growing customer base in mobile apps to the Nokia Ovi Store’s open content distribution," said Dmitriy Tarasov, CEO of Tarasov Mobile Software. "With an increasing need for developers to market and promote their apps, Ovi Store helps developers to reach a broader global audience."
Aside from enticing consumers with lite versions of apps, Tarasov Mobile Software also coordinated with Nokia to launch periodical promotional campaigns which placed two of the company’s apps, Ting! (Lite and Full) and Magic Brush (Lite and Full), as recommended or featured apps in Ovi Store.
In September 2010, the company launched its first promotional campaign in Russia's Ovi Store, and for a short period of time, made the full version of Ting! available for free on Nokia N8 devices. The campaign was a huge success in terms of downloads and revenue, therefore, Tarasov Mobile Software and Nokia decided to follow with a global promotional campaign in October 2010 for both Ting! and Magic Brush. Within just two weeks, the company saw over 3,000 collective downloads and generated nearly $6,000 USD – this is no small feat for such a small company! Today, the popularity of these apps continues with Magic Brush Lite, recently exceeding 1 million downloads.
Ting! (Lite and Full) and Magic Brush (Lite and Full) are apps that renew the visual and entertainment experiences on a consumer’s device. Full versions cost $4.99 USD.
Ting! and Magic Brush were created with Symbian C++, but Tarasov Mobile Software plans to create future apps for Nokia Windows Phone devices as well.

Using advanced graphics and telephony, Ting! (Lite and Full) shows full screen photos of your contacts during incoming and outgoing calls as well as during a text message notification. Consumers can choose to add one photo or multiple photos that will appear as a slideshow.
Tarasov Mobile Software created the initial version of Ting! within a three month time period and gained help with Nokia telephony APIs through Forum Nokia PRO, an invitation only program for companies and Nokia growth partners. Later, the company spent under two months to optimize the app for other Nokia touch screen Symbian (^3 and 5.0) devices.

Today the app is compatible with all Nokia Symbian (^3, 5.0 and 3.x) devices.

Magic Brush (Lite and Full) is an app that allows consumers to be creative on the go by using their device to create images. Using a variety of drawing tools, consumers create images with a full palette of colors and can easily save their art to share with others.
Tarasov Mobile Software customized the app’s UI and simplified the process so consumers could easily use this app regardless of artistic ability or familiarity with the app.
One consumer said, "This app is enjoyable and easy to use” and another wrote, "I can express my feelings with this software."
This app is compatibile with Nokia Symbian (^3 and 5.0) devices.
