Nokia + Windows Mango = Lumia

Today, means 26 October, Nokia launched two devices, in Nokia world at London. Both are windows phone Mango based, most waited device from Nokia. Both are called Lumia devices Nokia’s new series for windows phone OS. The two devices are Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 , both are having windows phone Mango support.
About Windows Mango
Mango is the latest update to the windows phone 7. It supports Multitasking, fantastic browser, twitter and LinkedIn integration. It has terrific interface for creating local groups of friends.

What is Lumia?
Lumia is the name of the devices of Nokia having windows mango OS inbuilt. The two devices are launched Lumia 800 and Lumia 710. Lumia 800 is the carbon copy of the N9 Meego device, Both mango devices run at 1.4GHz clock rate, and RAM of 512 MB, this is different if we compare both the devices with Meego enabled N9. Lumia 800 has 16 GB memory and 8 MP camera, while Lumia 710 has 8GB Memory and 5MP camera.

Nokia + MeeGo = N9

At the Nokia connection 2011 Event in Singapore, New MeeGo based device N9 is launched. This is the first MeeGo device by Nokia .This may be the first ever device does not have any switch at front side. It has got different UI, having simple gesture, a swipe of a finger.
About MeeGo?
MeeGo is a Linux-based open source mobile operating system project. Primarily targeted at mobile devices. It was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 by Intel and Nokia in a joint press conference. The stated aim is to merge the efforts of Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo former projects into one new common project. Harmattan, originally slated to become Maemo 6, is now considered to be a MeeGo instance (though not a MeeGo product), and Nokia is giving up the Maemo branding for Harmattan.

What’s new in N9?
There are many things new in N9, But one thing I like is NFC enabled, developer can take benefit of it. It has got new and fast web Browser build using latest Webkit 2 technology, and Wide HTML5 support offers access to rich web applications and fast video playback. One best thing is that it has latest map features of OVI maps and navigation.
N9 contains best applications of OVI store in built, so no need to download, E.g. Angry Birds, Accuweather, and Foursquare. It’s good.

How developers get benefited?
Here, One more device comes having Qt enabled which is N9, Developer can directly start developing for N9 using Qt SDK 1.1 ( which is useful for the Symbian, Maemo, and MeeGo phones having new generation of tools and APIs ), When you install the latest version of Qt SDK, or update your existing installation, the MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan target is available as an experimental component you can add to your Qt SDK. Once installed you gain the ability to compile applications for the Nokia N9 Smartphone along with all the features you need to create, code, test, and package your Nokia N9 applications.

What about Qt?
It is now confirmed that Qt will be the core component of Nokia for Symbian , Maemo and Meego based devices. Qt will remain with Nokia for all above Operating System. There are many applications available in OVI store build using Qt and Nokia wants more, that’s why, Nokia‘s strategy to bring apps to the next billion, reassuring developers that investments made in Qt today can live on in the future with Nokia.
