Remote Device Access (RDA) technology enables remote access to mobile devices over the Internet. The system consists of a device pool connected to a server, and users connecting to the server in order to remotely use the devices. Once a user has connected to a device, the screen of the device is transfered to the user's desktop in real time. In addition, the user can install applications on the device, transfer files, and analyze log files in real time. This enables developers to test their mobile applications and services on various Nokia devices based on Symbian OS. RDA is an Internet-based solution, and the requirements for using the service are a standard Web browser and Java™ Web Start (typically comes with Java Runtime Environment, JRE).

Following devices are available at the launch time; Nokia 5500 Sport, Nokia E60, 3 x Nokia E61, 2 x Nokia E65, 2 x Nokia E70, 2 x Nokia N71, 2 x Nokia N73, 2 x Nokia N80, 3 x Nokia N95. We will adjust the device pool according to the popularity.

maybe I'm blind, but could not find any information about how to connect the device to the internet.
Just used a N80 which shows up some wlan networks.
One encrypted RDA and one open WANO wlan.
Which one and/or key to use?

Ok, just found it in the user manual:

WLAN access
Internet access is available for all phones with WLAN support. Configure a new WLAN access point (if one does not exist) with the following properties:

WLAN network name
RDA

Network status
Public

WLAN network mode
Infrastructure

WLAN security mode
WPA / WPA2

WLAN security settings / WPA mode
Pre-shared key

WLAN security settings / Pre-shared key

people should however have a bit of patience. The service is currently administrated only during finnish business hours, which means from monday to friday. On the weekends it runs pretty much on it own; in case of device jams, they will likely stay disconnected until monday morning.

Btw. if anyone has feedback/ideas how to improve the service, you can send them via email to ndh dot fi at nokia dot com. (the mail address mentioned on the RDA welcome page)

Also as a few users have had problems with setting up the WLAN, I'll post a brief walkthrough here. For some devices the setup is dead easy, for some it requires a bit more poking around. The following example applies at least to E61:

Go to Tools > settings > connection > Access Points. Change the "data bearer" setting from packet data to WLAN. Then select "WLAN netw. name" and "search for network" from there. Select "RDA" as default network. You will also need to change "WLAN security mode"-setting to WPA/WPA2. Also go to "WLAN security" settings > WPA MODE. Change WPA MODE (EAP by default) to pre-shared key and to the "pre-shared key"-field enter the given key (in this case "forumnokia").

After this is done, the device should remember the connection settings.

I've been planning to setup the default access points ready for all the WLAN enabled devices - and probably will do so at some point.

Is there any way to remote control real devices? For supporting/troubleshooting issues?

What exactly do you mean?

The whole idea of RDA is that offers an interface to remote control the devices (and then the screen data is captured and displayed to the user).

For troubleshooting, you should first refer to the service user manual. If that doesn't solve the problem, in case if serious issues you can either mail the admin (the address is displayed on the service welcome-page) or post your question here on the messageboard. I try to check the boards at least once a day.
