[Moved] Difference Between TC TrustCenter Publisher ID & Verisign ACS Publisher IDs
Hi Experts,
Can someone please explain the difference between TC TrustCenter Publisher ID & Verisign ACS Publisher IDs.
In my application I need writeDevceData capabilityFor which I need devCert to test and it asks to purchase TC TrustCenter Publisher ID.

I also need Audio Proxy Server and that require ACS Publisher ID.
Do I need both?
How the application will be signed before submitting to symbian signed. Will it require both certificates?
Can someone please explain instead of just pointing to different links. I am confused with search results on this subject. For example following link says
"Please note that old Verisign ACS Publisher IDs are valid until they expire. Any new ACS ID (one that is acquired after June 2007) will not be accepted by the Symbian Signed web portal."

Re: [Moved] Difference Between TC TrustCenter Publisher ID & Verisign ACS Publisher
There is no functional diference between the two, they are just electronic certificates issued to your company that allow Symbian to identify you as the issuer of whatever document (certificate request or SIS file) you send to them.
While existing ACS Publisher ID issued by Verisign are still accepted by Symbian Signed the new Publisher ID provider is TC TrustCenter so it is their certificate you shoud be using/buying.
If any Forum Nokia or Symbian Signed documents still mention the Verisign issued certificates that is of course for historical reasons and you should read TC TrustCenter whenever the document describes processes that are still operational today.

Hi,
Why it is showing moved. Is this topic taken out from the forum?

Hi ltomuta,
Thanks for the explanation. Based on your inputs I believe I can use Audio Proxy Server with TC TrustCenter Publisher ID?
I believe this should be updated on Audio Proxy Server Wiki to avoid the confusion.
Best Regards

Yes, you can. What APS needs are capabilities, not certificates. Symbian Signed however will only give you access to some capabilities if you can prove that you are who you say you are, and you do that based on a certificate issues by a recognised issuing autority, these days that beeing TC TrustCenter.
I will update the APS page in the wiki but please note that you have the power of doing the same.

Creating new threads in the most appropriate forums is beneficial in many ways: you make your message visible to developers interested in the same topics (in this case signing and certification) which in turn means faster response rates and beter chances for others to find and learn from your experiece.

Can you please indicate the page that needs to be updated? I cannot find any reference to Verisign's ACS Publisher ID at http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Audio_Proxy_Server
