Webinar - Qt for S60

as already announced Nokia is porting Qt to S60 and the first release was already published in October.

Got email reminder about the websinar, with a link to here to ask questions in advance. Here you are, just in case I miss the live webinar:

1) Please tell everything about licensing :D If I have undertood correctly, Qt has currently two licenses: a) one for open source non-commercial projects, which require releasing full source code for free? No Qt license fees in this case?

b) Another one for commercial projects, where source code can be kept confidential, with quite a big-corporate-sized license fee? I saw 3500 EUR quoted in one blog?

So how will it be for S60, is there any sense thinking about doing small apps or not? Games and utilities, either in AppStorish "0.99 USD" or "5 Pound" apps categories? Or even freeware without releasing source code?

I've been thinking that maybe Carbide.c++ was made available for free partly because of expected (similar size) Qt license fees ;)

2) Qt already runs on maemo, does it? Now you're planning for S60? Howabout S40? Windows Mobile? BREW? iPhone? Android? LiMo? What kind of multi-platform support can you promise for the (near) future?

3) Tell about tools, will all Carbide.c++ tools work as expected? Debugging on emulator and hw, profiling, static source code analysis? Code coverage, class browser, graphical UI design tools?

Jack, the links to the webinar registrations don't seem to work for, they include the "..." in the URL. The Qt webinars are still not on on the overview page at Forum Nokia, so I'm not sure if there's currently a way to sign up except through the links that were sent in the newsletter.

We will, S60 licensing is open still though.

yes, in maemo there's community port done as open source by Forum Nokia and external developers:

yes, in maemo there's community port done as open source by Forum Nokia and external developers:

There's also official maemo support on the way. Windows Mobile is already officially supported by Qt. BREW seems very unlikely (although not impossible). iPhone is technically doable (with a MacOS X port already available) but I think there are legal issues and not that many devices yet. Android and LiMo are running Linux so very possible, but Android is still Java only for devs and there isn't a proper SDK for LiMo yet last time I checked, nor any real commitment for the phones to be open.

I kind of half expect Android and LiMo to merge at some future point, and for the resulting platform to be open to native apps and a Qt port to appear very quickly after that.

in the webinar there was a lot of great questions which most of them were answered already.

We will post the discussions here as well (of course we'll remove everyone's names) but due to holiday season it go until early January.
