Is there any API on ovi side?
Or is there any API in development for future version of ovi store?
I am finishing my application and I would like to know if ovi store is planning some "update" function in a future version of ovi store.
Or maybe we will have to forget about such "update" function forever and should handle it on our own.

Hi,
You are better of setting up your own update system.
There are several problems with the current BETA Ovi, namely that it does not support Ovi Store only the Ovi application. Updates can take quite a while to appear after you send them in.
The download of updates will not affect any download figures.
Really just need to do lots of user testing, before launch.
The main problem is the time and money spent signing and uploading and QA testing apps.
Updating becomes expensive

Currently the only way to update your application is to update your existing content. You would have to upload the new binary, change the version number and possibly change the title/description if it mentions which version it is in. The updated version will not affect the previous build that is in the OVI store until the new build has passed QA. It will then replace the old build.

What will user see when he has old version of application installed in his phone and new version in published in ovi store?
I can't test this situation but when the versions are same user see Launch.

I was in such a situation some time ago, and had to unleash an embarrassing recall to the press...

Hello Michal,
The users will still see the old version in his phone and he will not be notified of the new version.
Ovi does not notify users who have downloaded previous versions of any updates to the existing content items. R&D is aware of this current limitation and is working diligently on this feature to better suit the publisher’s needs.
It is best that in your updated build to implement a notification for the users to check the Ovi Store regularly for new releases.

I think that only solution for this problem is to submit new application as new content and disable old one.
And in update procedure open URL of new content application.
What will happen in ovi store application when user click on download(this time it will be same application but different content) if ovi store app will handle this.

Regarding redownloading applications, as long as the updated version has the same content item ID and the application ID, the updated application will replace the old one.
