Preview issues with Nokia Web Tools 1.2.0

Hi all,

We're facing some issues with previewing web apps on the simulator.

We right click on the context menu and select 'Preview Web App' but on some occasions we receive no error message and the simulator does not load, however if we retry we are sometimes able to see our app load into the simulator.

Could this be an issue with the Nokia Web Tools 1.2.0 or with the deployment mechanism to the Nokia cloud?

Please note - this issue can be reproduced on two Windows 7 64Bit machines running Nokia Web Tools 1.2.0. We had no issues using previous version of Web tools 1.1.0.

I will talk to our tools guys about this and file a bug if one doesnt yet exist.
Please try manually closing the simulator between preview rounds to see if it helps.

Further to this we are also encountering caching issues with the new web tools 1.2.

I.E., when we makes changes to our code and then deploy to a phone we don't see our changes. It is fine in the simulator.

Wanted to check. Was the simulator up and running already when the new app loading failed ? or was the Simulator not up and running ?

I have encountered this issue in Windows 7 64-bit.

I will kill the simulator from Task Manager then re-launch.

Hey,

While there's no concrete resolution to this issue before a new Simulator release, please try running Web Tools as an administrator.
This has helped with the occasional simulator launch problems.

I.e. Right-click Web Tools icon and select 'Run as administrator'

Please check the Simulator proxy settings. (Click Settings button in the Simulator).

You can test network connectivity with different proxy configurations.

Thanks, but actually the simulator is not launched when previewed in the Web Tools. However, preview file such as .MyRss_prev.wgt has been generated, and it seems okay when opened manually in the simulator which was lauched standalone from the Start menu.

Did you try to run Nokia Web Tools as Administrator?

Thank you Petro. Run the Tools as Administrator as you instructed, it is okay now for Symbian Widget, i.e. simulator launched and the widget run for previewing. However, only simulator tool bar shown, and without device simulator viwe for S40 web app preview.

Is the OSX version of the Nokia Web Tools also affected with this (or similar) problem? When I tried to launch the WebSDKSimulator.app from the Tools i first got an error message saying:
[I]musketeer might not work due to error unable to open database file Error opening database[/I]
After that I tried to open the .app package with sudo, and from that on I just get a quick flash of the simulator icon in the dock.

Luckily bluetooth deployment at least works.

I'm running OSX 10.6.8 on a Intel Core 2 Duo Mac mini (Late 2009 model) and a fresh install of the Nokia Web Tools 1.2.0.
