UID NUMBER Question - Developer Certificate
I just submitted my Nokia app and I received the following message.
Failed QA.
ISSUE #1: FAILED: Invalid UID/SID
SUMMARY: The appliciton includes a UID/SID not assigned to the publisher by Nokia. Our processes for signing content requires the UID/SID displayed in the application to match a UID/SID assigned to the publisher by Nokia.
The UID/SID displayed in your application is: 200419A0
For more information on "Packaging and Signing your content", please go to the following link for assistance: http://www.forum.Nokia.com/Distribute/Packaging_and_signing.xhtml.
I acquired my UID numbers from www.symbiansigned.com. My developer in Germany provided the app and we used the UID number associated. I'm confused on the process and what needs to be done. This is my first time developing for Nokia and seems complicated. Maybe it's not but I'm not familiar with the process.
Any advice is appreciated.
Re: UID NUMBER Question - Developer Certificate
I acquired my UID numbers from www.symbiansigned.com.
That was the bad idea. Read "SUMMARY" once more, and use the UID-s you got from Ovi.
Two ways of signing:
1)
- you buy a Publisher ID form TrustCenter (200 something, probably USD)
- you get UID-s from Symbian Signed
- you send the application to Symbian Signed, 10 EUR per Express Signing
2)
[preliminary stuff:
- Nokia has a Publisher ID, you do not do anything with it
- Nokia gets many (millions perhaps) UID-s from Symbian Signed
]
- you appear on the scene and enroll to Ovi Publisher programme, 1 EUR
- Nokia gives some (5?) UID-s to you amongst its own set
- you use the Nokia (Ovi)-allocated UID
- you send your application to Nokia (Ovi)
- Nokia does the signing.
The two approaches can not be mixed.
Re: UID NUMBER Question - Developer Certificate
The developer told us to get it from Symbiansigned.com. If I understood you correctly, I should just submit the app to Symbiansigned.com to get Express signing. After it is signed, it would be approved and I can submit to Ovi store. Nokia won't need to approve?
Re: UID NUMBER Question - Developer Certificate
If you also have the Publisher ID from TCT, yes, you can use express signing directly on the Symbian Signed site. You will need to purchase so called "Content ID"-s, that is the 10-EUR thing. If you face a mysterious "system error" when trying, you will have to correctly set your country details. (It is mentioned on the start page, but probably it may be worth mentioning here.)
Ovi Store accepts express signed content, but the quality approval is still going to be necessary.
Re: UID NUMBER Question - Developer Certificate
Yes, even if you sign content with Symbian signed, Ovi store will check content right and quality of application before publishing your item.
Re: UID NUMBER Question - Developer Certificate
However in case of using Symbian Signed for signing, you will have the signed package, and you can sell the application anywhere, from the very moment you receive it.
"Ovi signing" is restricted to the Ovi Store (you will not get the actual signed package).
