Nokia 600/700/701 GPU upgrade!

Hello all,

There is a major GPU upgrade in these new Symbian devices.

Dedicated graphics memory is upgraded from 32 MB (N8, E7 etc) to 128 MB. As it's dedicated GPU separated from the main ARM CPU you still need to be aware of some tricks to keep the GPU hungry and not to upload any textures in the main rendering etc.

Graphics memory upgrade will definitely give more space for textures and augmented reality should be much easier now.

Graphics performance is also boosted from 200 MPixels/s to 1000 MPixels/s! As the screen resolution is still the same NHD this will give a lot of per pixel performance for heavy shader effects.

It does not hurt that the CPU is also 1 GHz now and there is 512 MB's of RAM in these devices:)

Hmmm. Strange, I did not found anything about the update to 128 MB. Neither in in memory or either in multimedia section:

Sorry, graphics accelerator and related specs are not yet updated to developer.nokia.com for these new devices.

Can someone please enlighten us about the GPU in Nokia 500? Developer page only displays "2D Graphics HW Accelerator with OpenVG 1.1 support"

Will be any of new and great Nokia 700/701/600 available to developers over DDP ? And if yes, when ?

We are trying to get more specs out but meanwhile you can use the EGL string to check which GPU was used in these new devices:

I also want to know which gpu it used,It is said that 701‘gpu is Broadcom bcm2763,so 700?

Updated specs are now online and specs mention the GPU used etc.

It's easy to create searches like "graphics memory equals 32 MB" and this will give you the following devices:
702T, T7-00, Oro, E6-00, X7-00, C7 Astound, C6-01, C7-00, E7-00 and N8-00.

New Belle devices that have 128 MB's of graphics memory:
600, 700 and 701 (603 still missing from this list).
