How to manage app updates
I have published Qt app on nokia store and I've updated it serveral times
already.
Here's how I made it:
* I've created content item, set metadata
* I've added content file, set sis file
* On app update I've EDIT existing content file setting new sis file
* Submit content file to QA
Now I got my app partially failed QA. Say it passed for S60 and failed
for S3 devices. Before update I got my item published for S60 and S3
devices and after update I got my updated item published for S60 devices
only.
It's not the best way to handle updates, isn't it?
I guess if I added new content file for new version and submit it to QA
I would end up with better result: new item for S60 and old item for S3.
How do you handle content file management?
Re: How to manage app updates
So the published item was unpublished? This is strange...do you have multiple content files?

Hi nETPOBu4,
Do you know why your application had been failed for Symbian ^ 3 devices? I doubt this is an update issue but perhaps a problem with your actual file. Can you write to developer.support@nokia.com and provide us your content item link and we can investigate this issue on your behalf? Please add [Discussion Board] to the beginning of the subject line so I can easily locate and extract your email from our system.
Best regards,

I've already mailed publisher support.
I want to discuss here a general concept of handling updates.
Simply put I ask here: to have or not to have multiple content files
per one content item? How profi do it?

Generally if you wish to update your application, you would want to replace the current published file with the new one. Creating a new file will create a new file ID and existing users may have issues updating to this new file since the original file ID downloaded would not match the new file ID.
I advise you to fix the issue with the Symbian ^ 3 devices so you can distribute your content on both device platforms. If you provide me with the support ticket reference number, I can look into your case and get further clarification from the appropriate teams.

Re: How to manage app updates
I opened new thread about QA fail because this one is about app updates in general http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Discussion/showthread.php?229603-QA-team-playing-up-and-no-publisher-support
