Non-square screenshots for N9 apps

Hi,

when browsing the Nokia Store from a MeeGo device, I see that apps have non-square screenshots. Anyway, when I try to upload screenshots for a new MeeGo app on Nokia Publish, I'm only allowed to upload square images.

If anyone knows that, I'd be glad to know how to achieve that, so being able to upload non-squared screenshots. I've searched in Nokia Publish docs and Nokia Library, but was unable to find references to this matter.

It's not true that you cannot upload non-squared images for MeeGo content. Actually before submission you will be required to provide at least one full screen image for MeeGo content. First you have to create your new content and then can modify metadata fields
- Primary full-size screen shot 854x480
- Secondary full-size screen shot 854x480
- Tertiary full-size screen shot 854x480

those fields appear in last section "Spotlight & Promotion (optional)"

thank you for your reply. I'm actually trying to upload a 480x854 image as primary full-size screenshot, but I keep getting the "Alert: Image must be square." error.

I guess those images are edited by publisher (by adding white space on both side to make it square) of those applications before uploading it. I saw few app with square screenshots.

For example,

MeeGo content has extra fields for non-square screenshots ;)

section "Spotlight & Promotion (optional)"

@pippo: for some reasons I don't see those fields, but only the standard screenshot fields in the "Images" section

did you add files? if yes did you specify that it's a MeeGo content? if yes and still no sign of those fields than probably really someone from Nokia needs to have a look at it

Hi Alessandro,

Can you give me your content item name or content ID so I can check to see if this field is missing? As Pippo said, the spotlight screenshot fields should be accessible. Note that your application will only appear with a square icon unless it has been picked for spotlight featuring.

@pippo: no, I still haven't added files, but the content item is of type "MeeGo/Maemo", isn't this enough?

@Andrew: the content ID is 218188. As said above, I still haven't added content files, don't know if this is related to the missing spotlight screenshots. As a further question: within the Ovi Store client on my MeeGo device I see all apps with non-square screenshots, while I see squared images only when browsing the Store via Web browser. Is there something I'm missing?

You need to add file and mark it as MeeGo type otherwise system seems to be not adding those fields

Update: just checked one of my Maemo contents and it doesn't have those fields. So you need to have MeeGo-file before they appear

So do I need to upload the .deb file before uploading the non squared screenshots?
I did select MeeGo content for publishing

yes, you have to upload the .deb file, and then you find the extra screenshot fields in the Spotlight section.

Afaik the squared shots are still needed for the Web version of the Nokia Store.
