Why not go on developing PySymbian!
Now, The Python Latest Version is 3.3, Buy We only support the version of Python 2.5.
Why not go on developing PySymbian to support Py3.
I think Nokia All of Mobile Systems shoud be support Python (etc Symbian, Windows Phone) and update to new version.
It's quite really easy language.
C++ so hard.
Re: Why not go on developing PySymbian!
Nokia is ramping down Symbian completely, and it certainly affects things which run on top of Symbian. In fact the people who have created PyS60 do not necessarily work for Nokia any more.
Re: Why not go on developing PySymbian!
Nokia 's main technology for Symbian development is Qt which can also be used in MeeGo/Maemo platform.
Re: Why not go on developing PySymbian!
Python is a totally different world, it is a hacker's script language, with totally different origin and goals than C++ flavours (like Symbian or Qt).
And as such (hacker's stuff), it obviously exists on Maemo/MeeGo. Anyway, Qt is ramping down too, and retrospectively we could safely say that Maemo/MeeGo did not even start.
Re: Why not go on developing PySymbian!
I think it's well understood at this point that Symbian is pretty much dead in terms of new development, and as such I fully understand that there's no new development on Python for Symbian, but I don't get why it couldn't have been opensourced? In fact, as far as I can tell the Python for Symbian package isn't even downloadable any more -- or am I missing something?
Re: Why not go on developing PySymbian!
Well, PyS60 is an open source project hosted on SourceForge... Actually that is the first hit appearing for me when searching for pys60 with Google.
