Re: operation failed
Hi lordashraf! Welcome to Nokia Discussion Boards!! :)
Please mention how are you transfering your apps. If you are not using a PC Suite, you could download it from the link Hartti pointed. Else if you are currently using a PC Suite, I should say, me to have experienced the very same behaviour while trying to transfer my apps to my 3100, 6610i (same platform devices as of 6100).
Please make sure that you are using a matching Datacable and that it is an original accessory from Nokia. Also please make sure that you are having a compatible PC Suite installed. And in my experience, while disconnection the phone after connecting, please make sure that you are disconnecting it properly.
What I believe a proper disconnection is from the Nokia connection's manager item of Nokia PC Suite, uncheck the concerned boxes before disconnecting the device, else for me it was hard to reconnect again!

Re: operation failed
Not to hijack the thread but I'm getting this same error... Here's the info:
Nokia PC Suite 6.81.13.0
Windows XP Pro SP2
Nokia 6620 connecting via USB cable
Due to various problems with my 6620 I had to do a hard reset and then restore from a backup. Since doing that, I now get Operation Failed when I try to install applications (Papyrus for instance). I reinstalled Nokia PC Suite and it reinstalled the SMSsync on my phone. I was actually able to install Papyrus at this point, but now I'm trying to install other things and I'm back to the Operation failed message. Both my PC and Phone have been reset numerous times and nothing seems to free this up. Even going back and trying to install Papyrus now results in this message.
I read on another forum about doing a:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
But this doesn't help either.
So looking for any ideas and assistance here. Thanks!

Re: operation failed
AFAIK, the supported data cables for 6610i include DKU-5 & CA-42. I am not sure about DKU-2.
