Secrets of themes for series 40

Did you know f.ex that a theme.nth is just a zip file ?

Try renaming theme.nth to theme.zip and open it.

there you will find a .xml file open it and you will se your sourcecode for your theme.

Now there must be more to a theme then the commands the theme studio 2.1 offers.

f.ex i want to change the batteri-status-little-image-on-top and the clock look so bad in idle mode så there must be some commands for changing that.

also the play button in the musicplayer would be nice the change and sometimes f.ex if i run a Java2ME program then it uses the standard wait-graphics instead of the one used in the theme.

Sorry, My engish is so bad but I hope ask to you something.

I created the new file (about 975k size). in computer I can see anythink. but I can't installing to my phone (say the file is broken). what happan in this case & I can't find the 'IM' background to created the new theme (in main icon) Can you help me?

975K is a big theme.

You can try starting with a empty theme and then test it on your phone
then add just 1 picture and test it again
add another picture and test it
that way you should know when you get a error message you know what pictures there is a problem with.

You can also try delete all the sound and all the big pictures and .swf if you use any. you can se i the program there is something called "list of bills" or something, there you can se the files in your theme and the memory they use.

If you want to change the IM icon there should be one but i may been called something else maby its "Wireless village" or something like that it should be there so just change all of then until you find it.

Thanks for your explain, but the picture just 23k size. (jpeg). If this program can't to allow the big size file, why they can let them setup more (picture , sound etc.)

We must upload more the picture (new theme) to my girlfriend's phone.

I just use the S40 THEME STUDIO 2.1 to develop. How I can use anyother software to assist finished this.

thanks fedblindkat for the tip about decompressing the theme to check the xml code.
i am just getting into all this stuff about customising phone themes, my main problem with it all is that the UI for themes creator is too limited, it will not allow for full manipulation like i thought it would.
i have just downloaded the other sdk's today and will play with later, what i would really like to know is if it is possible to change the font type and the icons ?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
