MMS Applications

I am new to MMS.I am having MMS Suite Software.I wanted to test one MMS.Which is one is better using SMIL or JAVA?
I am not having GoAlive software.How to test.if anybody tell what r the things exactly required
to write MMS Applciations

smil is the basic one of mms applications without tht you can't create mms stuffs.
