The tracker cfg are in /home/user/.config/tracker/..... I do see $PICTURES in mine and I just realized tracker did index Pictures folder on my N9. But somehow I remember it wasn't working on N950 and...

In PR1.2 tracker no longer indexes Pictures folder... maybe you can experiment with putting the pngs under DCIM/your_app folder?
