First of all, we can't create more then 1 instant of any application of same UID.
so when u trying to start the application manually, u are getting the background application instant only.

If i am not wrong, and if you are using Carbide C++ editor then create new "Symbian OS Class" using file->new option. Then chose your project and then chose "Active Object Class".

If you are asking of dynamic memory then use cleanupstack, otherwise the static memory (allocated on stack) will be unwind.
