    Hi,

My harddisk gets currupted so I installed the Symbian SDK again. Followed all the steps and sequence given in http://www.symbianresources.com/tuto...all_nds_en.pdf. I'm using 7.0s_v21.

Still at the time of compilation it is comming with an error as follows:
    --------------------------------------------------------------

    * Current build configuration: WINS UDEB
ERROR: RCMake failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Performing Pre-Build Event..."

Build log was saved at "file://c:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21\Working\SoundDllTest\SoundDllTest\Deb_S60_21_WINS\BuildLog.htm"
    SoundDllTest - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

    ---------------------- Done ----------------------

Rebuild All: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 skipped

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    Any help would be appretiated.

    Hello Pankaj,

Make sure that Emulator is closed while you are building your project.

    Hi,

I have checked, it's not the case.

    I'm worried about the error
ERROR: RCMake failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    What could you suggest?

    Hello Pankaj,

In the following link, they are saying about creating an empty .pkg file.
Look for more concrete detail from it. Although i have not experienced this particular error before or may not remember right now.

I hope this will help you.

    hi,

My environmental variable is set as follows:

    path = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian\Tools;C:\Perl\bin\;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21\Epoc32;C:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21;C:\Nokia\Tools\NDS_for_SymbianOS_VS;

Am I doing anything wrong here?

    Hello Pankaj,

Path Environment variable looks fine from the arial view.
Anyways go through the link i've provided in the previous post and search for this error in that .txt file. They have provided a work-around for this error.

    Hi Kiran,

Went through the link you provided,

Following is the workaround provided in txt file.

Under certain circumstances the automatic generation of a .pkg file fails
with the error message (in the Visual Studio Output window):
    --
ERROR: RCMake failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Performing
    Makefile project actions"
    --
The workaround for this is to create an empty .pkg file into the location
pointed to by the NDS Properties view.

But in my project I have the .pkg exist.

And my output window in .NET IDE does not pointing me any location info about .pkg file.

Really not finding out the solution to this problem. I'm stuck, can't proceed further. Please help me out.

    Hi,

One more problem. If i go for import the project option from file menu, it shows me following error.

    ---------------------------
    NDS for Symbian OS Error
    ---------------------------
The following error occurred: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

I think, I must uninstall and then install the whole thing.

    Hello Pankaj,

Also refer to the follwing link:
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=63908

Such type of errors are encounted in rare cases. You may/may not find quick response for such an error unless someone who has experienced this behaviour reply you.

You should not use NDS any longer, upgrade to Carbide.vs 2.0.1.
