Raccoon on XP laptop Nokia Gateway

Hi

Please advice if Raccoon can run on IBM compatiable PC with Microsoft Windows XP ?

What kind of the proxy client need to talk to Nokia Gateway? (The one Raccoon use)?

We try to connect the laptop to Nokia Gateway with Nokia Data modem or HSDPA data modem card .

I not sure that Raccoon gateway is built in Raccoon or a piece software can talk to Nokia gateway. We know that the mobile phone can not be assign any real IP address ( addressable public IP address), it is proxy client belong to part of Nokia network, if i am not wrong.
So if this piece of software client allow be authenthicated to Nokia Network
or some kind of plugins of web server, we can run the Web server over Nokia Data modem or HSDPA data modem in laptop in wireless network.

There is no special "Nokia network". The gateway runs in the Nokia extranet, that is, the regular Internet. The DNS is configured so that the lookups browsers make for a particular mobile phone URL are resolved to the IP address of our gateway. Thus, while every mobile phone has a unique "domain name", they all appear to have the same IP address.

But, since the addressee is available in the payload - the HTTP request the browser sends to the gateway - the gateway is able to send the HTTP request to the right mobile. So, in practice this means that we enable HTTP traffic to the mobile, but not arbitrary IP traffic.

You can do that, but it's rather clumsy:

• Download the S60 SDK from Forum Nokia and install it on your laptop.
• Download the Raccoon SDK from http://sourceforge.net/projects/raccoon and install it on your laptop.
• If you take the latest version - 0.10.0 - then you need to download the OpenC SDK as well; also available from Forum Nokia.
• Start the epoc-emulator.
• Locate the Raccoon application and start it.
• Invoke [Options]->[Settings] and enter the same values you have on your mobile.
• Move to the rightmost tab, whose title is 'Connector'.
• Invoke [Options]->[Go Online]

That will cause Raccoon to connect to the gateway, without starting the web-server (in the S60 emulator). Now you can start the actual web-server on your laptop and it should be reachable using your mobile's URL.

Note that the emulator uses the IP-stack of your PC, so you cannot have the Raccoon web-server (running in the emulator) and your regular laptop web-server running on the same port at the same time.
