    N71 logged cpu speed : 206438 Khz
    6681 logged cpu speed : 220800 Khz

I was expecting N71 to be atleast as fast as 6681 !!???

The CPU speed might not be right (at least in some cases they don't match with published figures) as well as CPU speed doen't tell everything on the real processing speed.

(fix: basically meaning that the value you get with some API, might not correspond to the values published in some documents, thus, one can not be sure what the real value is)

Basically SW version and other than CPU related HW-issues will also efect the overall performance of the phone, thus by simply looking into the CPU speed, will not give you the idea of how fast the device can actually perform given tasks.

Thus you would actually need to measure it. And then the results on which one is faster, would depend on what you measure, since some phones might be faster on some types of tasks and slower on other types, depending on multiple different issues.

    Thanks for the info symbianyucca.

I was measuring performance wrt our opengles game software.
Fps on 6681 was 11.1, on N71 it was 7.5 with 176x208 pixels rendered in both cases.
If the N71 software version is configured to rendered to full screen (240x320) then the fps drops to about 5.7

The Nokia N71 Technical Specs mention that the device has Dual CPU, each clocked at 220 Mhz !!??

I would basically believe the Nokia's technical specs. Anyway did your test app include lots of file accessing ? It quite known fact that there can be quite big differences in file accessing times between different models..

It did, but all the file accessing happens only during game loading, no file is accessed during rendering.
