    Hi,

in the absence of jsr 113 (speech api) is there any way to access text to speech on a nokia 5500 eg pass a simple string to be read out?

I see that s60 python does offer text to speech so as an alternative has anyone tried accessing python features from j2me?

I would like to avoid having to hack it out using tones etc as the rest of the application is complex and resource hungry enough as is.

    thanks,
    Ben

AFAIK there is no out-of-the-box API to achieve that as you have concluded too. Maybe you could develop a plugin using Symbian C++ and access this functionality using MIDPJNI or the so called Native Services workaround.

Look for that here and you will find some threads.
