Network Band Info

Hi,

I have limited knowledge about GSM cellular network bands.
As per my understanding there are 4 network bands

850 Mhz
900 Mhz
1800 Mhz
1900 Mhz

I want to find the current band info in my application. The TNetworkBandInfo enum defined in CTelephony (Etel3rdParty.h )
describes the network bands as follows:



EBandUnknown The current band and band class is unknown.

E800BandA The network operates at 800MHz on Band A.

E800BandB The network operates at 800MHz on Band B.

E800BandC The network operates at 800MHz on Band C.

E1900BandA The network operates at 1900MHz on Band A.

E1900BandB The network operates at 1900MHz on Band B.

E1900BandC The network operates at 1900MHz on Band C.

E1900BandD The network operates at 1900MHz on Band D.

E1900BandE The network operates at 1900MHz on Band E.

E1900BandF The network operates at 1900MHz on Band F.


How do I relate these enums to 850/900/1800/1900 MHz band info?

The band information querying capability through Symbian CTelephony API only applies to CDMA networks.So you can check if the network is a CDMA network querying the Network Mode and then use this band information.
This particular enum does not map to GSM networks at all.

No, I dont think there is any public API to get this information :-(

And as far as I know, there is no single Symbian based phone with a CDMA radio on the market. I.e., all Symbian phones that have been or are for sale are for GSM or WCDMA networks.
