I am new in developing an applications for Series 60 3rd edition. Due to security reasons of 3rd edition we sign the SIS file before installing it into the mobile.

I wanted to know how I can generate a SIS file which can be installed in all the 3rd edition mobiles, with out signing the each SIS file individually.

Signing the .Sis file is pre-requisite for installation on S60 3rd edition phones and onwards.

You can specify Platform ID = 0x101F7961(for S60 3rd edition) in your .pkg file.

If your application requires only User-Grantable capabilities then you can of course opt for Self-Signing which is free.

If your application requires more capabilities than that of User-Grantable then you can develop your application with "Developer Certificate" which lasts for 6 months of period. But finally you have to sign your .SIS file with "Symbian-Signed" which will cost you.

In all the cases you have to sign your sis file. No way escape.

I am trying to develop applications on S60 3rd Editon,and i was having the same doubt How to make sis file to work on all Mobiles without creating and Signing SIS file individually.

Kiran has said that we have to take a "Developer Certificate",but it is valid for only six months,so for every six months we need to take a new publisher ID or there is there any Certificate which is valid for life time.

Obviously you should sign your application with SymbianSigned and let it install on any S60 3rd edition phone without any install time warning.
