png to svgt ???

Hi,
I'd like to transform png image to the svgt format.
This doesnt have to necessarily happen on the mobile device itself but could be done on a server (running unix and Perl) and afterwards the SVG T could be send to the mobile device.
Anyone have any idea which kind of software (peferably free) can be used for this ?
I even have problems getting an image made with Inkscape to become SVG Tiny compatible... I used the svg2svgt tool but that wont help at all...
Any kind of experience regarding the above-mentioned problem would be usefull !

adobe illustrator generates perfectly compatible svg tiny images.
on the mobile side, you can add an element to your svg of type image, and provide a server side image to it.

Automatic conversion of a bitmap image (PNG) to vector graphics (SVG-T) is very hard to do well (and sometimes even impossible).

it is true.
i just wanted to point out that i have been using illustrator, and that the resulting tiny svg are good, and that you can also include an image directly or programaticaly in the svg.

ok,
but the added image in the SVG will it have the same characteristics of a SVG ? as in lossless zooming ?
Or is it just an embedded image and as such still have it limitations ?

depends on weither you converted it you just embedded it.
