Location and Cell-(Id / Name)

Hi.

I can get cell id with location class in pys60 but I can't get cell-name with location.

How do this ?

You can only get the cell id - which is a specific number for a specific cell location and is provided by the network. So you cannot get the location name using the location module.

I was also trying the same thing, but then i got link of some sites which map the cell id to locations, maybe it can help you in anyway. One of the sites was,

I'm use Nokia 6600 and While I open Cell Information in Settings , I see Cell name in wait mode.

Can we use its setting file in system ?

May be Cell ids stored in Z:\ Drive ?

This is known as the CELL INFO DISPLAY.

AFAIK, Currently there are no extensions and libraries which allow you to use that in Python for S60.

However you could work on a native extension of accomplishing that in C++.

I understand.

But even if you get this information. Its from the Network operator.

My network operator -> Vodafone -> uses it for broadcasting advertisements too!
