I think I found a software releated GPS issue with latest public OS on N82.
The problem: if I start Nokia Maps or Garmin Mobile XT, the phone sais "Waiting for GPS signal", but nothing hapens. It cannot found any signal. I waited 5-10 minutes, but nothing happened. If this is the case, and close the Nokia Maps/Garmin application an switch to the phone's integrated Satellite satus viewer, I can see that at least 4 sateelites seen by the phone with high signal strenght, but none of the signal bars were white. I waited 5-10 minutes here also, but nothing happnede. If this is the case and I reboot the phone, and start Nokia Maps/Garmin right after the reboot, I got 4 satellites after a very short period of time (10-25 seconds!), and can start navigate.
Settings I tried:
- just the inside GPS enabled
- inside GPS, and A-GPS
(network based, and Bluetooth settings are disabled all the time)
Software versions I tried:
- v 20.062 RM-313 (Nokia N82)
- Nokia Maps 1.4
- Nokia Maps 2.0 (latest stable)
- Garmin Mobile XT 4.10.60
- Garmin Mobile XT 4.10.80
- Garmin Mobile XT 4.20.00
The problem's sort description:
N82 see the satellites with high signal strenght, but cannot calculate the position if the phone not rebooted for a long time.
If the problem occures, after a restart, everything went back to normal, and the phone find satellties quickly and able to start navigate.
I'am not the only one who get this exact GPS problem.
Can anybody say something about that?
Dchard
