I searched a lot of discussion here but didn't find the clue if it is possible to record downlink voice only during the call (now we can record the whole conversation: uplink+downlink). I saw some people asked this question, but didn't get the answer. I would like to post this again to get more discussion. It is good to have this function to enable some interesting applications. Can anybody from the professional work answer this? Thanks in Advance.

The thing is that FP2 devices have a feature that, if you mute the microphone, it will mute all recording sources, efectivly meaning that you can not record from the uplink, if you try muting the microphone.

Currently, I'm not aware of any generally usable fix for this issue, but can only categorize this as a platform feature.

Thanks. We can mute the microphone and record the downlink voice, we proved this works for us. But our application doesn't allow us to mute the microphone. We need the conversation continue. So we still need to have the function to record the downlink voice only. I don't know if the partner level API can support this as deep level SDK. In principle, I believe this is feasible for Symbian. I saw old platform can support this. I wonder why there is no function in S60. Please advice.

pre-FP2 devices did work nicely on this one, but AFAIK technical support can not help on FP2 (at least at the moment), since there appears not to be any general way on achieving the functionality on FP2 devices.

So it is a feature, which there is no known workaround available at this point of time.

So this indicates that pre-FP2 can support. Could you please specify the version which works for us. We can find a device and test on it. This is still a progress from the discussion. thank you.

N95, is FP1 device, so it should work in it just fine.

Indeed, this has been investigated before and it was determined that you cannot record the downlink channel, it is always mixed with the the uplink one.

    There is no known workaround.

So, is there any special agreement that can enable this function. It will not be comsumer application. I am not sure when Symbian opens the source code, this is a fucntion to be protected. Expert from Nokia may contact with xin-yu_ma@agilent.com directly for this further discussion. thanks you.

Since no workaround is available, not even one that uses internal APIs, there is no special agreement to be made.

Forum Nokia Experts can be contacted if needed, the details are available here. Other experts are available as described here.

    Dear Experts please help!

Since ETelephonyNonMixed can't do the job, neither can mute - it only mutes to the call remote party - not muted to the CMdaAudioRecorderUtility api (I tried on 6210 Navigator - Symbian 9.3 - S60 3rd FP2).

I wonder if there's a way to use the VoIP Audio Service API to do this? I tried a lot but still no avail - also tried using CVoIPUtilityFactory::EPoCCall (can't see any doc explaining this value) instead of EVoIPCall used in the example app but still no avail.

It's okay for my application if the other party doesn't hear anything - all I need is a clean record of the downlink - please please help.

    Thanks!!!
