emulator abnormally terminates under windows vista

I have 2 computers. One with Vista Business x64 and one with XP SP2. Yesterday I downloaded S60 3rd FP2 SDK + Carbide and installed on both computers. On Windows XP everything works out of the box but Vista is a torment. Emulator after few seconds (usually 5-6) terminates without any error. During that time I can click on menu, flip the screen and so on but then window simply disappears without any message box with error:( I have read wiki and suggestions about setting SDK under Vista (turned off DEP for epoc, installed jre 1.5.16) but it still terminates abnormally. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Do you have the latest S60 3rd SDK FP2 v1.1? It was released only yesterday so chances are you have still the 1.0 version. The new SDK release is the first with Vista support so you should give it a try.

I know Nokia released new SDK, I have already installed it (of course after uninstalling previous version) but unfortunately problem didn't disappear...

Sorry to hear that. I wasn't really expecting success though as I have doubts that the SDK was ever tested on a x64 machine, a factor that adds one more layer of complexity to the host OS being Vista.

My machine has also an x64 processor but with Vista 32bit on it so all I can say is ... it works for me (in fact I use an SDK without "Vista support").

Could you please make sure that logging is enabled (LogToFile 1 in the %EPOCROOT%epoc32\data\epoc*.ini files) and then, after running the emulator again, send me the %TEMP%\epocwind.out file. I will then submit an error report to the SDK team ...

Wow, thanks for a hint! I checked the debug log and it turned out the MMFAudioServer.exe caused termination. Well, I've already found a solution on this forum (disable the realtek driver) and the emulator works now. Nevertheless I think that if emulator come across any problem, it should display at least message box that something is wrong :).

Crashes for me with AMD64 on Vista 32 because of PC sound driver.
