N73 installing midlets as big as 750 kb is faling

Hi,

We are experiencing the install of JavaME midlets as huge as 700+ is faling during install, it says Authrisation failed.

However, this midlet is not ofcuscated and hence it would contain many unsed classes etc. specially the Security Algorithems of Blufish etc..

When the same midlet is ofuscated using prograurd, the size becomes 170 kb and this is being installed pefectly.

Are there any restrictions on size of the midlets, which gets intalled on N73, with out signing. If we sign the midlet, does one be able install huge mildets..

What is the max size of the midlet, if the midlet is not signed.

Nokia N73 should have no limits for JAR size, as reported in its specification page:

Your issue, also checking the error message you've got, seems to be more related to Signing/Certification. Is the midlet causing this error signed?

Could be the size (as the physical, available phone memory still limits the MIDlet size) or it could be something different (like you using a Canvas-based class with update method implemented inside it...)

Hi Hartti,

Considering the above restrictions, what is the tipical size of jar size which could get installed on N73. My phone seems to have 2GB memory card with default phone memory. When we refer here memory are we refering to phone memory or/and including external memory card..

Also, could you explain your second point of canvas based class with update method impl..

When I mentioned the physical memory in the phone, I talked only the internal memory, not the size of the memory card. Some of the OS operations might use the internal memory only and do not take memory cards into account.

The issue was with http://www.bouncycastle.org library we used. this library can't be used without obfuscation..
