mobile internet via USB on asus eee pc

i've connected usb as usual, and have tried to connect to internet, but it doesn't work. it's asus eee laptop, there's installed linux not windows, so couldn't do anything with it, every time i trie, operation fails. so if anybody knows how to make it, please help
