Tower ID detection

I m working on my final year project which is a J2ME application.

as my first step i want to identify Tower ID from which my mobile got an sms using J2me application.i.e whenever i recived any message from anyone i also recived the tower Id along with the message text.
i have no idea how to do it as i m new in this JAVA world.

plz help me waiting for urs positive replys.........

If by Tower ID you mean Cell ID, see this article.

NO I dont means cell ID by tower ID.

Each tower of a telecom company has some unique name i want to catch that name.

The "tower" is the "cell" = "basestation". And the unique (per operator) identifier for each tower = cell = basestation is the "cell ID". Or am I missing something?

Yep, the question is about that textual string which is sometimes shown in the device, basically each towers have their own name. Unfortunately, AFAIK, there is no S60 API that could be used for getting it.

I treid to find but i could not find for nokia device but you can get CELL ID for many other devices if you want.

You could use this in motorola and sony ericsson. I tried to find in nokia but i could not get. We hope it will available in future.
