Hello group,
I tried to find some help for reading the PIN number of any particular SIM. I am trying for an application where I can read the PIN number on the SIM and edit if possible. The basic idea is to lock the SIM to be used in any other phone.

Can I get some help ?

Thanks in advance
Sharat

Hi,

there is not public API for this as I know. I guess you will have also problems with getting such application signed as you might need manufacturer and also network operator approval for this...

Reading the PIN would be something like if a lock (on your door) would provide detailed description about how to create a key for it.
So obviously it works in the other direction: the device forwards your guess to the SIM card, then the card says if it is a hit or a miss.

You should try something else.

Since all phones are capable for asking the PIN code, it is not the PIN code which prevents you from using SIM card of OperatorA in a device customized (locked) by OperatorB. It is the device which refuses the SIM card, and it happens independently from the PIN code.

I'm not aware of anything that would allow you to get the PIN, but I think there are Symbian partner API's to allow the PIN to be changed (it requires the original PIN and the new PIN) and also to query whether the PIN is valid.
Download Symbian OS now! http://developer.symbian.org

You can also change the PIN with AT commands, provided of course that you know the original PIN code.

Hello,

Firstly thanks for your valuable comments.
I am sorry if i put the question in wrong format, but the functionality what i was looking for is mentioned here

http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/6567.html

where I can set a security code to block the sim, so that it cannot be used in any other phones. Now, I am looking forward for the implementation which is also mentioned in the following thread.

http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=79450

The same functionality I need to implement.

Thanks

a example which with you could send AT commands could be found from the Wiki: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...T_Commands.zip

For AT commands and how to use it, you could propably search the Wiki, as well as do some internet searches, I'm pretty sure there are information available.

Hi group again,

I got some material where the basic functionality which can be implemented by AT Commands are mentioned.

http://www.developershome.com/sms/atCommandsIntro.asp
http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/
http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/

Thanks for the example symbianyucca. I have gone through the materials, but however, I am unable to understand how should I proceed for implementation of AT+CPIN Enter PIN command.
I mean do I need to implement what +CPIN? shall do at the front view and what +CPIN: <code> should do at the back end? As I am looking out for blocking SIM which can be provided by this command.
Can anyone give a start up push?
Thanks ...
