how to make my app 'sit' and listen for incoming sms/phone calls?

hi there,

i've already tried browsing the messageing apis, etel core, the application engine(where i found out about the contacts), the dialer example and i still don't have any clue how do to make my app aware of incoming sms/calls.,

i do need my app to sit on the background right? like it doesn't need to be executed to listen to any incoming sms/calls..,

i'm trying to develop a software that records/stores the number of sms and calls recieved and sends the user does to a particular person for the nokia 7650

thanks a lot for your time i hope you could give me exactly where do i look for this or how to start one,

was wondering if you also know any example too that waits for incoming phone calls? i'm having a hard time looking for one,

i guess i didn't read far enought that i noticed the sample you gave me includes recieving sms, but is it also applicable to a 7650 phone because i noticded that developing for 9200 has it's own sdk,

If you are using Chinese 0.9 SDK, probably you will find the sample code in it. I remember I onced attached the sample code in the discussion board. Please search for "SMS" to find it.

I did not know it could process incoming sms

hi all i have downloaded the N9200 SDK from the forum Nokia site.
and tried to run the GDSMS example in it .
But it shows the following error.
..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\SYMBIAN\6.1\SERIES60\SERIES60EX\GDSMS\SRC\GDSMS.RSS(113) : Label not found

in .rss file the line number 113 is

control = TELNUMBER

so i could not run it.

again i searched the forum and tried to go to the link

but the page has been removed error is displayed.
Then i Downloaded the chinese sms exemple sent by liuxg
i did run it in the series60 sdk v1.0 and found that after
composing the message when i press ok button
its displayin a mesage as message created
and its displaying a information note as
send
No Service Centre.
is it problem with the emulator and work in the device ?


Infact i am trying to write an application which captures an incoming sms and notifies the user abt it with some options.
Hope i get some help from liuxg,MickyRen n others.

Note that the original thread is almost 6 years old. Things have changed in these 6 years. I am afraid that mickeyREN is reading this thread and eventually will help you.

Anyways Do let us know where you got strucked! As code example to listen the sms and calls are provided in the wiki seperately, the only thing you have to do is to integrate both in your application and you are done with it.
