Getting audio recording volume level

I are working on Symbian S60 3rd edition fp2 and S60 5th edition.
I am recording audio that is to be streamed in packet by packet basis on Http. Can I get the volume level of the recorded audio at runtime (I mean real time)? Can anybody suggest a way to get the volume level at run-time while recording the audio. I need to show a UI representation the volume level. I am using "amr" format for audio recording. Thanks in advance.
