MWS and GPS location

Hiyah everybody

I would like to take GPS position of the mobile phone in order to send this position to a central server. I have read something about a Mobile Web Server 1.3 beta in: http://blogs.s60.com/2008/06/more_ab...ocation_featur

Besides,i have read also something about LocationRequestor, which seems to be useful to take the position with Python http://gagravarr.livejournal.com/126871.html

However,i am a little bit confused with all this. I am using S60 3rd Edition FP2 V1.1. My questions are:

- Could I use Mobile Web Server 1.3 beta or something similar to get the coordinates or it is not available for emulators?

- How should i start with LocationRequestor??

hello nadiuska

if you just want to read GPS coordinates then its possible is PyS60 using the Positioning Module. Have a look at this article.

Moreover you can also get the GPS information using external Bluetooth GPS.

Now if your sole aim is to upload the GPS data to remote webserver you can easily implment that in PyS60.

Just read the GPS data from the above mentioned articles and upload it to a webserver using this article.

Hi gaba88 and thanks for ur reply. It has been very useful for me ur information.

I have test the code u linked me and it seems to be working propertly. However,the coordinates it provides are erroneous, and actually i dont know how is it able to get that coordinates if it is working from an emulator. I dont know if it will work right when i test it on a real Mobile Phone,and as i dont have a nokia mobile at the moment i cannot check it..

My aim is to get the coordinates of the mobile phone each 2 seconds and put them on the Mobile Web Server.

By coordinates i assume that you are talking about Latitude & Longitude write a mail to me i will help you in that. Moreover it will be great if you test the code in a actual device emulator is not a convenient option.
