Debug an application

Hi
I have an application on S60_2nd_FP3. The application involves various modules among which is the module in which the device information is obtained and is returned to the system by talking on the ports. The application runs successfully on the handset. But for introducing certain new features I want to debug the application. Is there any way I can debug the application while executing it on the handset?
Please tell me which is the efficient way to debug the application.

In pre-v9 SDKs you cam use File Based Debugging. You might want to search in wiki for logging. (one uses RFileLogger and another uses custom logger)
