Background image in Grid... grid construction hides the image!

Hello friend,
Can you please give me some hint to show a background image of my own behind the grid...
I have constructed the grid, when calling SetLayoutL() function it hides the background image which I hav drawn before that... It used to take the default skin. Nor calling the background function after making the grid helped me to bring the background....Please help.
