Ha, this is one of the e-mails I received from OVI back in April

The Store will launch globally
the week of May 4th and we would like your content to be
available as part of that launch.

It's week of May 8 and there was no communication whatsoever on any new date.

It all looks like a farce to me.
First announce application store, developers put effort into publishing content and then stop all communication.

It's May 20 and still no OVI Store, I hope the wait is gona be worth it...

The respected Forbes sites reports

Nokia is planning to release the Ovi store (ovi fittingly means ‘door’ in Finnish) at the same time as it showcases it’s giant leap forward, the Nokia N97. This conincidental and planned dual release of both hardware and software/media services will surely create a much larger and longer lasting media buzz than just the N97 alone ever could.

The N97 is launched in UK by Vodafone, one of Europes largest mobile telecoms operators on 29th May 2009. Journalists have N97 and are reviewing the phone for report on the public holiday weekend.

The global launch is 1st June for which press launches are planned.

Journalistic specualation says the store will open or be opened at 29th May 2009.
