Route Finding and Navigation in Symbian

Hi,

I would like to know if there is anything available yet that enables LBS apps to integration route finding and navigation capabilities. I do not want pure landmarks or POIs. I want to show on map the directions in real time from point A to point B (normal navigation stuff). Is there any API open for developers to achieve this?

I read about Maps and Navigation API in the forum but could not find it anywhere! Not sure if i missed something. Also i read about the Ovi Maps API which is not released yet. Any one has idea of the open possibilities?

I downloaded the code, and created and installed the sis file but it seems that it does not do any route finding. It is all location positioning, like existing things. I looked at the code and as well there is nothing that indicated route finding, all location acquisition API calls.

any other thoughts?

There is no C++ routing API. That Maps and Navigation FW was never released and by the looks of it it never will be. Google has the same limitation on their APIs as far as I know and routing is not an option.

You will have to wait for the release of the OVI Maps APIs or try to get early access to them through the Apps on Maps competition.
