Self Signed SIS won't Install

HI All ,

I self signed a very simple SIS that only installs a .txt file to C:\Data\ on the device.

Now when I try to install it on a E71 and N85 I get the message :
"Unable to install unsigned software , Check Software Installation setting ..."

Changing Settings>Applications>App.Managers>Software Installation to ALL, fixes the problem .

I would like to know if there is any way to sign such a simple SIS to avoid changing that setting on every device and without having to go to a test house or use a IMEI dependend developement certificate.

Is it unsigned or self-signed?
Note that makesis does not sign anything.
For self-signing you have to makekeys and signsis (check the bottom part of http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...gn_Certificate for command-line example).

@Wizard : Note that he could 'fix' his problem by changing the software installations settings to all. So he has self-signed it.

@pratorob: if self-signed, this is needed. if you are planning to release without 'proper' signing(anything dependent on IMEI or symbian signing) then changing device settings cannot be escaped.

thanks for your very quick reply , the installer it is actually Self Signed .
I mean that the SIS is signed using SignSis and a certificate generated usigng Makekeys in the same way it is described in that link you posted.
