The SDK Capabilities List was not found.

Hi, Everyone

I develop the UIQ3 application in the Carbide C++, and I run the Capability Scanner on the mmp file,
the view of the Platfrom Security is empty and the view of the Console displays the following error message:

ERROR: The SDK Capabilities List was not found in the SDK (C:\Symbian\UIQ3SDK\epoc32\data\capabilities\).

but it's OK in S60 SDK !

why?

Please help me !

I think you should submit a Bug via Carbide.c++.

Carbide's Capability Scanner needs some GT_*.xml file containing the list of APIs (classes, methods) provided by the SDK and the capabilities required for each of those. The error message you see simply tells you that Carbide looked for such a file in your SDK but could not find one.

If you know that such a file exists then make sure that it is placed in the correct location.

You may want to read Carbide's help though to learn

• whether the tool actually supports UIQ SDKs and if so
• where can such capability list files be found for UIQ (although nobody is supporting UIQ anymore unfortunately and the old servers are down)

Btw, UIQ's SDKs are based on the same Symbian OS releases as S60's so the least you can try is to enable the scanner to process those common Symbian APIs.

To do that:

• close Carbide.c++
• locate the installation directory and in it the \plugins directoy
• locate the Capability Scanner plug-in, com.nokia.carbide.capabilityScanner_x.x.x.xxx.jar, rename it to *.zip and then open it
• inside, in the \files directory locate the S60 SDK directory that has the same Symbian OS base as your UIQ SDK and from it take the GT_9.*.xml file and copy it to where Carbide.c++ wants it (C:\Symbian\UIQ3SDK\epoc32\data\capabilities\)
• rename the zip file back to *.jar
• start Carbide.c++ and give it a try

Thanks a lot for your reply,

I have copied the GT_9.1.xml to the specific folder,
and the Capability Scanner runs well now !

But the GT_9.1.xml is only for the capabilities of Symbian OS v9.1,
it still need the other file for the capabilities of UIQ3,
I searched all files in the UIQ3 SDK, but I cannot find any file like
"GT_S603rd.xml" in S60 SDK.

I guess the UIQ3 SDK does not support this function, right?

I can't really tell. The feature was introduced late, the S60 3.0 SDK does not contain the file either, that's why it is delivered through Carbide.c++ but the later SDKs should have it. If a Google search can't locate such file or a discussion about it then it is pretty sure that the file does not exist and you will have to rely on SDK's documentation and your logic to figure out the capability dependencies.
