.rsc file is not getting created - just .ren file

Hi,

I use Carbide C++ 2.0 with Nokia N97 SDK 1.0.

When I compile a project it does not generate the .rsc files automatically.
It generates ".ren" files intead.

I see this message during compilation (when I have changes in my resource files).
Created \S60\devices\Nokia_N97_SDK_v1.0\epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\z\resource\apps\MyApp_0xAPPID.ren

When I try to create a sis file or run the emulator - nothing works because the rsc files are missing.

I have to rename the "ren" files to "rsc" files and then everything is fine.

This does not happen to all projects - just for 4 of them (the main ones :-).

Do you know why this is happening?

Check the console output on error for the build.

Do you have this type of statement in mmp file?
START RESOURCE myrssfile.rss
HEADER
TARGETPATH resource\apps
END

Yes. I tried clean rebuild - same result. I tried to reimport the project - same result.
There are no errors in the build.

And yes I do have this is my mmp file:
START RESOURCE MyApp.rss
HEADER
TARGET MyApp_0xMYAPPID
TARGETPATH resource\apps
END //RESOURCE

Are you able to compile you rss file separately , successfully?

If you are able to compile them successfully without any error, then it is problem related to IDE. Just clean and Rebuild for configuration other than WINSCW once and then switch back to WINSCW.

This trick will work.

Have you tried creating an application with the template provided in the IDE. Instead of importing your project, just try once with the default HelloWolrd template. Check if rsc file is created properly.

How many rss file you have? If you have multiple rss file then NAME field of the RSS file should be unique.
Consider this and also what kamalakshan says.

Yes, My Resources compile just fine.

Yes, I have tried to create a new project from template - it creates the rsc files. This does not work for 4 of my projects and works for the rest of them.

I have two rss files. One App.rss and the othe one is App_reg.rss.
App_reg.rss did nor have a NAME. I added this line and it is unique for each file.

I then cleaned the resources and rebuilt for something other than WINSCW - it created the rsc file, then when I rebuild for emulator - it keeps creating .ren files.
