I'm tried this code http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...elloSensor.zip only to find out that widget return no sensor data on my E52. According to specs at http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/E52/ it supports WRT 1.1 and full assortment of sensor API channels.

The phone FW version is 022.009.

    Hello,

From the article of the zip file ->

Note that the Platform Services extensions were introduced for S60 5th edition, thus they do not work with older devices.

    As E52 is S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2.

But on the same time Nokia says

The S60 Sensor Framework was introduced in S60 5th Edition, but is also backported to S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 for some mobile devices, as well as the Nokia E66 device, which is an S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 device with sensor APIs based on the S60 Sensor Framework.

    From http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...nsor_Framework

Might be a backword compatibility issue.
    Regards,
    Dinanath

    It's a matter of attitude.

Yes, there's a lot of conflicting statements here and there. If there's a chance to access sensors, I'd use it.

    Hello,

Indeed Sensor service API does not currently work with S60 3rd edition FP2 phones.

    However, you might try:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n...0_3rd_FP2.html
    from
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Category:Sensor

It's not clear to me if this just enables use of the Sensor API in the SDK or if the applications created actually run on edition 3 phones.

    Walter

Those API stuff is for Symbian C++ development, and bsically the required stuff needed to get the symbian Application compiled.

It is quite frustrating to hear that the accelerometer of the E52 is not accessible from within applications!
It is really no fun browsing through all that information on the Nokia web sites, learning that most of it is outdated or not true.

So I guess the only thing I can do is to wait for Nokia to release a new revision of the operating system for the E52.
Are there any plans for this, and, is there an authorative source for this kind of information?

I really feel lost somehow, as I didn't find any reliable information from Nokia about this.

    Many thanks for any help!

    Regards,
    Walter

    Hi Walter,

A known issue document about this issue was published recently on Wiki side. JavaScript Sensor Service API not supported on S60 3rd Edition FP2 devices

We will keep you informed if situation changes.

    Best regards,

So I understand this only affects Javascript of WRT,
and that from JAVA or C++, the Sensor APIs are available.

Many thanks for clearing that up!
